info obtained from www.jeffparish.netInformation for Return to Jefferson Parish Should you choose to return to Jefferson Parish, be aware that there is no electricity, no gas, no running water, no sewer service, no garbage pickup, and few government services outside of law enforcement. If you return you should have: 1. A full tank of gasoline in your vehicle. There is no gasoline available in the area. 2. Cash to purchase items as they become available. There is no electricity to process credit card transactions. 3. Drinking water and water to bathe, to flush toilets, and to clean your house. Conditions in the parish are extremely primitive at this time. Think about what you would need to survive in the wilderness and bring those items with you. They will not be available in the parish for the foreseeable future.

How do you enter? I keep hearing and reading that the Parish is closed. I want to go in and grab some of my cloths and things to make it easier to get by until this mess is over

It is my understanding that Jefferson Parish is back in lock down as of 6 PM on Thursday. Only Business owners will be allowed in on Monday. Keep checking the Jefferson Parish web site for updated information: www.jeffparish.net/ 09/04/05, 4:30 p.m. - Effective at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2005, only emergency vehicles will be allowed to travel the streets of Jefferson Parish, day or night. The Parish will be in lock-down mode, meaning that any citizens who have remained in the Parish after 6:00 p.m. on Thursday cannot drive on the streets of the Parish. Note: There was a message on the JP web site that said residents can expect to be out of Jefferson Parish for three to three and one half weeks. It was also stated that Jefferson Parish schools were expected to reopen in one month. Those messages have been deleted however....
