Anyone with good legitimate info on th re-entry process? I've looked and listened on line and can't seem to get any detailed updated reports and certainly can't rely on CNN or other national outlets.
I heard a report on the "streaming" WWL TV link that they've "opened" the check points and stopped checking ID - any validity to this. CNN reports that those without proper ID will be allowed in starting Thursday, while other "reports" say that residents will only be allowed in today through Wednesday.
Are than any problems being encountered? How long are lines and where are lines forming - someone in an on-line forum "reported" that the I-10 line is backed up from Laplace to Essen Lane in B.R.
Also gasoline is a big issue maybe a good idea for a separate thread for "gas reports".
Thanks for getting this site up - hopefully it can be a source for real information.

Just heard from my folks who went back in and now are on their way out. Their route is toward Jackson, MS and they are reporting no problems getting back out. We only talked briefly, so I don't know how long they had to wait to get in.
Will post more info when I hear from them later today.

Article From the T/P "Long traffic lines into Jefferson" www.nola.com11:45 am (9/5/05) State Police spokesman Lawrence McLeary said the influx of residents into Jefferson Parish is proceeding smoothly, although long lines were reported along the two access routes into the parish. "There are no problems that we have been made aware of,'' McLeary said. The two routes, U.S. 61 - Airline Highway - and U.S. 90 on the West Bank, are reportedly packed with residents heading back to their homes Monday, the first day they are being allowed back into the parish. State Police said traffic was backed up about six miles on Interstate 10 where it intersects with Airline Highway near St. Rose. The backup along U.S. 90 was about three miles late Monday morning, officials said

There's been a couple of problems with the JP site - I accessed twice in the past 5 minutes and got 2 different pages - the first time I got a home page with 4 different updates to the original re-entry plan, while the current page only shows 2 updates. Both included the latest about residents not being allowed to drive "on parish streets" after 6:00 pm Thursday.
Admittedly some of the confusion lies in the ambiguity of the "written" plan -
Drivers attempting to re-enter without identification must wait until Thursday to enter Jefferson Parish.
So does this mean if you don't have I.D. you will be allowed in starting Thursday or does it mean that drivers who tried on M-T-W and didn't have I.D cannot come back (with I.D) until Thursday?
From info reported checking for I.D was for the most part discontinued early Monday morning and has not been enforced with any regularity. All the statements I've heard and seen imply that Thursday will be the one day when non-residents can come in to check on family friends, property etc. So if you do not have a J.P. ID you will probably get in but you may be better off waiting until Thursday.
There is this big question as to whether Thursday (9/8) will be the last day - for a month or until further notice - that persons who have NOT entered the parish will be allowed INTO the parish AND persons who are IN the parish to LEAVE.
This update adresses this: 09/04/05, 4:30 p.m. (note all updates are date and time stamped this regardless of when they were actually posted):
Effective at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2005, only emergency vehicles will be allowed to travel the streets of Jefferson Parish, day or night. The Parish will be in lock-down mode, meaning that any citizens who have remained in the Parish after 6:00 p.m. on Thursday cannot drive on the streets of the Parish.
So if you're didn't get in on Thursday you'll have to wait until they re-start the entry (up to 30 days) AND if you there as of 6:00 pm Thursday - you're stuck there - unless you plan to walk out.
Hope this clarifies some of the confusion.
