Any info about conditions around this complex is appreciated. My parents are residents and have safely evacuated to Chicago and are weighing options for returning to salvage what they can.
Amber - thank you for creating this message board!

I live on Brouilly Drive. My son in law is a police officer and was by the residence last night, 9/1. Kenner is dry and allowing residents back in on Monday with ID. There are no utilities and do not expect them soon. The neighborhood has been safe. Problems have been with retail stores containing food. My home got water in it, maybe 2" which is enough to make a mess. My fences are gone, and a tree next to the house is leaning over, but did not appear to cause structural damage. One door from my garage is missing, don't know if it is the main door or side. No windows broken. The rest is typical mess to clean after a storm. Second time for us this year with flooding - hot water heater got it the first time. From this, I would assume that most homes are dry with minimal building damage. God bless.

why would you want to go back. No way would I chance it. How are you going to leave again with out gas. You will be sitting on the interstate for God knows how long before you actually get into the area. And just to go to see damage. You can't do anything about. If you need supplies and clothes, locate the red cross, they will help you. Please, don't chance going back!

There is an update as of Sept 3 Saturday that has a plan for re-entry into Jeff parish. Curfew is dusk to dawn and you have to be in the re-entry line by 6p. No power, fuel, water. YOu need cash, will not be able to use checks or credit cards for any of the few businesses that remain open. The website is nola.com The Kenner town hall forum is where I found the rules for re-entry to Jeff Parish. God bless you all and be safe!

Does anyone know an alternate route in? According to the jeff parish advisory for the Labor Day re-entry, returning residents coming in from out of town cannot use I-10 south of LaPlace or the Westbank Expwy.

Is there any serious damage and/or flooding at Lake Chateau South? Is there anyone at the office yet? I called the day after the storm and got the Lakes' voicemail - a good sign, I think? I'm in Dallas and want to come back as soon as it's safe. - oncfari

for chat48:
All I can tell you is what my sister just told me (they arrived back in Chicago about 15 minutes ago). No water damage or broken windows at my parents' apt, but some damage observed in complex.
